A Journey to the Center of the Mind – Book III

The FBI Years

JCM Book III, the final entry in Jim Fitzgerald’s memoir-trilogy, starts in 1987 with his first day at the FBI Academy in Quantico, Virginia. After graduation, it is then off to his first assignment to New York City. The reader will follow his exploits as he’s assigned to the much coveted Joint Bank Robbery Task Force working bank robberies, armored car robberies, kidnappings, extortions, and other violent crimes. He’s clearly not in Bensalem anymore.   In 1995, Jim is promoted to the profiling unit, portrayed in the movie The Silence of the Lambs, and heads back to the FBI Academy for what would be the rest of his FBI career. His first assignment as a profiler: The Unabom case. He plays a pivotal role in arresting Ted Kaczynski relying on both his newly honed profiling skills and also forensic linguistics (using language as evidence).   After that, Jim works many serial murder and rape cases as a profiler and a forensic linguist, assigned to the post 9/11 FBI Red Cell, as well as working the Anthrax case, the DC Sniper case, an assignment to Guantanamo Bay interviewing terrorists, and many other well-publicized investigations on the final leg of his personal and professional journey.
